The Entourage

Of course, our wedding wouldn't be complete without the most important people in our lives celebrating it with us. These are the people who have helped mould us into who we are today, some we've known since we were children, while others we've only met recently but whom we have already established a deep bond with. They have been with us every step of the way, and it's only fitting that you, the reader, can get to know them , too and why they mean so much to us. Meet our entourage from our POV!

Jewel's Entourage

Jermine "Min" Oliveros
Jermine "Min" Oliveros - Man of Honor
My most favorite brother, Kuya Jermine. The person who introduced me to most of the 'cool' (or weird?) hobbies I still do - playing RPG, reading graphic novels/comics, suddenly dancing out of nowhere, playing the guitar, watching anime and more. He basically taught me how to be a boy growing up hahaha Maybe the reason why I was never into girly things. Dolls? Nope, we had Beyblades. Polly Pocket? Nope, we got Tamiya. Make Up toys? Nope, we got Yugi-Oh cards! The countless memories we've created together are priceless, and I love hearing people comment at how close we are. But little do they know, we were like cats and dogs when we were kids. Mostly me, teasing and starting the fight with my brother. Cause you see, my brother is the MOST. PATIENT. person I know (well now, there's Kyle). Imagine growing up with a sister who you can’t roughhouse with because she’s a girl, yet she acts like a boy—that’s me, in a nutshell! Thankfully, we grew older and closer, becoming partners in crime who share banter, stories, and secrets (that our parents will never know). And while there will be one less thing we share as I eventually change my surname, I'm sure to continue sharing with him all the same hobbies and all the small and big things in my life!

I look makulit no? Now can you imagine how patient my brother is?

Maria Enrily "En" Oliveros
Maria Enrily "En" Oliveros - Matron of Honor
The best ate I could ever ask for. I fondly remember when Ate En and Kuya were still dating, Ate would go to our condo to wrap my books in plastic cover cause she said, it's one of the things she likes doing. But I know deep inside it's also her way of making sure she got to spend enough quality time (and get to know) her boyfriend's sister. She's so thorough in whatever she does, from getting straight As in her masters (hihi lowkey bragging about my ultra smart sister) to making sure I have everything I need for the wedding. She thinks of the littlest things that she knows might be overlooked. You know that meme when you're with your older sibling, your brain shuts down? They pay for everything, they tell you where to go, what to do? That's me, completely autopilot when with Ate and Kuya - and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Having an ate like Ate En isn’t just a privilege; it’s a blessing that makes life a whole lot sweeter.

Ronacin May "Rona" Nicanor
Ronacin May "Rona" Nicanor - Maid of Honor
My bestfriend of 16 years, Rona — though she prefers to go by Ash. I stick with Rona because it shows just how far we go back, and let’s be honest, it makes me feel a little special! We were sat alphabetically in our first year high school, that's why we, Nicanor and Oliveros, ended up sitting next to each other. And we've been inseparable since. We spent most of our school years together including summers. We've seen each other's highs and lows, breakups, flings, and more. I remember doing school projects together, she'd be in charge of the MAPEH stuff (anything arts and crafts she's so good at and talented!!) while I would do all the Math, Science. That's just how it worked, we would already know what the other person needs and prefers to do, and maybe that's why we maintained being best friends all these years. One of my favorite memories is back in school, Rona would trek down four flights of stairs to the cafeteria to buy me Milo (I’m obsessed with it!). She’d return, carefully balancing that cup of Milo for me to enjoy. It's these little things that remind me how lucky I am to have a best friend like her!

Mark Angelo "Mark" Legaspi
Mark Angelo "Mark" Legaspi - Bridesman
Flashback to 2013 in Ateneo, I was last batch in AISIS enlistment (ugh!! fellow (old) Ateneans will know) and yep, I wasn't able to enlist in all of the subjects I was supposed to. Had to line up for hours and I think that's how Mark and I ended up meeting each other! Mark has always been the group’s go-to guy—ready to rescue at a moment’s notice. I remember one time I tripped so bad on the way to school -- blood streaming from both my knees, badly scraped hands from trying (and failing) to catch the fall. Mark was the first one I called (cause I was sure he's already in school) and thankfully, he was. He took me to the clinic (and laughed at me as the nurse scolded me for being too noisy for howling in pain). I’ve got tons of great memories with Mark, but here’s a tip—never challenge this guy to a drinking contest. He. Does. Not. Get. Drunk!

Ludwig Van "Luds" Molina
Ludwig Van "Luds" Molina - Bridesman
Ludwig—the maestro, the prodigy, and yes, with a name like that, you already know music runs in his veins. He can play the violin, guitar, keyboard - all so well!! But don’t be fooled—this musician loves his drinks... and then promptly becomes the first one to get knocked out at every party. Seriously, he’s mastered the art of naps. But despite his tendency to be the first one to pass out, Luds is one of the sweetest friends I’ve got. This guy will literally drive for hours just to hang out with the barkada, no complaints, no hesitation. Whether it’s for a casual catch-up or a last-minute road trip, he’s always ready to go the extra mile (literally). So yeah, he might snooze on you after a few drinks, but when it comes to showing up for the people he cares about, Luds is wide awake.

Q: Is Ludwig awake or asleep?

Picture of Q: Is Ludwig awake or asleep?

A: Half awake. This was Ludwig moments before he passed out

Jan Joel Theodore "Jed" Atanacio
Jan Joel Theodore "Jed" Atanacio - Bridesman
Meet Jed, the youngest (at heart) in the group—our very own Barney from How I Met Your Mother, or maybe even Joey from Friends. This guy always has a gimmick up his sleeve and is always game for a night out. It was all fun until we hit that phase where our internal clocks decided 9 PM was bedtime. But apparently, Jed missed the memo on aging, because he's still out there, being the life of every party. Like clockwork, he gives us a heads-up each year to block off a date near his birthday for a night out... starting at 11 PM, no less! Now, that is a true test of friendship. I’m not sure where he gets his endless supply of youth, but if you're looking for someone who's always game to go out, you know who to call!

Can always rely on Jed to show up on random night outs with other friends!

Katherine Anne "Anne" Seetekbeng
Katherine Anne "Anne" Seetekbeng - Bridesmaid
Anne is hands down one of the most (if not THE most) dependable, reliable, and organized best friends I have! Need a place to eat? She’ll send you a curated list of restaurants, sorted by cuisine. Planning a barkada trip? She’s on it—researching Airbnb options, mapping out a day-by-day itinerary, and basically acting as the group's personal Splitwise app. But most important of all, if you just need somebody to listen to life updates, rants, and anything in between, she will definitely always make time and show up. A true keeper, through and through!

Samantha "Sam" Montecillo
Samantha "Sam" Montecillo - Bridesmaid
Meet my other brain cell and partner-in-crime, Sam—the most supportive, ride-or-die girly-girl you'll ever encounter! She’s the kind of friend who’ll either lift your spirits or roast someone on your behalf, depending on what the situation calls for. Whatever your vibe, she’s got your back with her own unique brand of comfort and understanding. We met at Grab in 2019, and within a few months, we were already having full-on telepathic conversations (you know, the eye talk!). I just knew Sam was going to be one of my closest friends, so I figured—why wait? A month into the job, I was already holding her hand and told her, “We’re gonna be tight in the future, might as well start now!” and Sam has been by my side ever since.

Shawntel Nicole "Nicole" Nieto
Shawntel Nicole "Nicole" Nieto - Bridesmaid
Around 2006, our parents probably collectively decided that their two daughters were too shy and needed more friends. My childhood friend, whom I fondly call Ate Nicole despite being just 2 months older than me, has seen me literally from nene days to lady days! From watching Mission Impossible 5 times in the cinema (cause why not?) to screaming at a Justin Bieber concert together to celebrating life's big moments, I’m pretty glad our parents forced us out of the house and into a friendship that has stuck through the years!

Chloe Gabrielle "Gabbie" Rabi
Chloe Gabrielle "Gabbie" Rabi - Bridesmaid
Gabs is actually my niece, the daughter of one of my closest cousins. She's a representation of how our family is - we may be far apart from each other most of the time, but whenever we get together, it's like coming back to a bubble you've known your whole life. She may be an adult now, but I still see her as the little toddler I used to swim with in the tiny inflatable pool in their garage!

KYLE'S ENTOURAGE

Jan Viktor "Jave" Maceda
Jan Viktor "Jave" Maceda - Best Man
Part rock band vocalist, part car enthusiast, part dog whisperer, and part foodie and bar operator, it’s no surprise that Jave and I formed a friendship right away in college. If I had to describe Jave in one word, it would be “spontaneous.” When you're with Jave, the plan is to have no plan, which leads to all kinds of adventures—a quality I’ve come to appreciate. I would not have survived college without his “go-with-the-flow” mindset, his random invitations for road trips, his awesome alternative rock playlists (all of which I still listen to now!), our rock karaoke nights in his car, the bars we explored together, and the frequent video game nights at his place with the rest of our friends.
Atty. John Patrick "Pat" Coloma
Atty. John Patrick "Pat" Coloma - Best Man
On my very first day at UP Diliman, during our freshman orientation, the first person to approach me and start a conversation was Pat—and that’s how it all began. College was a blast, thanks to Pat's outgoing personality, sense of humor, and enthusiasm for both schoolwork and our computer game nights. Many of our memorable road trips were in Pat's legendary Isuzu Bighorn. He was (and still is) always up for an adventure. Despite being one of the most sociable people I know, what I valued most about Pat were our quiet conversations about life. Sharing insights with him was always a pleasure. An Ateneo A-boy through and through, he was as responsible as they come, making sure to keep our group focused on our academic requirements.

Pat, Jave, and I are living proof that an Ateneo-La Salle friendship can happen! Here's a photo of us back in college, probably 2007 or 2008. Hairstyle care of Azta Urban Salon. Stud earring care of Silverworks.

Rene Lorenzo "Enzo" Cantimbuhan, Jr. - Groomsman
Enzo and I have known each other for practically our entire lives. Like most of my high school friends, we’ve been close since we were in preschool. We grew up sharing similar interests, such as sports and computer games. We had the same sense of humor, growing up on Nickelodeon's "All That," the kid version of Saturday Night Live. Although we are now scattered around the world, our friendship is so deeply rooted that it will last a lifetime. We may not talk or see each other as often anymore, but I consider Enzo to be one of my brothers.

Patricia Margarette "Pia" De Jesus-Knox
Patricia Margarette "Pia" De Jesus-Knox - Groomswoman
Dael, De Jesus Since we became classmates for the first time in 4th-grade, Pia and I would always be next to each other in the section's class list, which meant that we would always be seated near each other or were groupmates for projects. As if eight years being together from grade school to high school wasn't enough, we ended up studying in the same college (business), in the same university (UP). Eventually, once we were both in the corporate world, we'd end up as roommates in the same condo, going to the same office building. It's like we were pulled straight out of a sitcom - two characters who grew up together and shared an apartment together. She may be based in the US now, but I won't be surprised if the universe somehow finds a way to bring us near each other again.

Getting to spend almost two years together sharing an apartment with your high school friends was a nice "adulting" thing to do.

Maria Ysabel Dominique "Punky" Villamor
Maria Ysabel Dominique "Punky" Villamor - Groomswoman
When I first met Punky in college, I was immediately struck by her cheerful personality. It turned out that she was actually a cheerleader for the UP Pep Squad. As I got to know her better, I realized she was one of the guys—someone I felt completely comfortable sharing everything with. One thing's for sure: I, along with Jave and Pat, would not have passed college without this woman’s super neat and organized notes. I will forever treasure Punky's bubbly personality, iconic laugh, and corny "punny" jokes.

College fun times

Lots of our tambay while waiting for the next class was spent here, just laughing out loud.

Diane Anne "Diane" Young
Diane Anne "Diane" Young - Groomswoman
Not so fun fact: I almost blinded Diane back in college during a badminton doubles match where we were on opposing teams. My partner and I were trailing late in the game, and I was doing everything I could to turn it around. During one rally, I saw an opportunity to smash the shuttlecock hard, and I went for it—only to have it hit Diane directly in the eye while she was wearing contact lenses. Needless to say, we rushed her to the hospital for treatment. It’s a miracle that we’re still friends today, and I’m incredibly thankful for that. Diane has always been my responsible and reliable friend from college, and it has truly been a blessing to navigate adulthood together!

Jasmine Dominique "Myndi" Ricarte
Jasmine Dominique "Myndi" Ricarte - Groomswoman
I was seven years old when I was blessed with a sibling—Myndi, who would turn out to be the best sister anyone could ask for. Growing up with her and taking care of Myndi has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Until now, people have often commented on the close bond we share. I suppose that’s what happens when you grow up watching the same shows on Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon, playing the same video games on the PlayStation and Xbox, and enjoying the same food. Myndi truly is the best.

When it came to my sister and her suitors, none of them really stood out or met my "kuya" standards. That changed when Myndi went to college and introduced Justin to the family. Responsible, driven, and caring, Justin reassured us that Myndi would be in good hands. Now, seemingly together forever as a couple and three years married, he and Myndi have become the foodie couple Jewel and I often hang out and travel alongside with.

Karlo Almario "Karlo" Garcia
Karlo Almario "Karlo" Garcia - Groomsman
Karlo was my training partner at flying school while we were both pursuing our Airbus A320 license. This involved spending countless hours going through various readings, watching tutorial videos, and completing practice exercises and simulations. Interestingly, during one of our extended training phases in Laoag, Karlo introduced me to K-Pop by saying, "Bro, check out TWICE; they're solid!" He also recommended K-Dramas, saying, "Bro, you should watch Hotel del Luna." Since then, I haven't looked back and have fallen down the K-culture rabbit hole.

Mark Gabriel "Mark" Mathay
Mark Gabriel "Mark" Mathay - Groomsman
The funny thing about Mark and me is that we were schoolmates at De La Salle Zobel from first grade all the way through senior high, yet we never ended up as classmates or friends during those years. It wasn't until we both began working at the same company, Monde Nissin, that we started to form a friendship. At Monde Nissin, we discovered that we shared a passion for North American sports like the NBA, NFL, and now the NHL, as well as a love for video games. We also found that we had a similar sense of humor, often exchanging endless memes. However, what truly solidified Mark as a lifelong brother for me was his support during some of my toughest times. For that, I am forever grateful.

Jordan Ray "Jords" Canilao - Groomsman
I had the pleasure of meeting many lifelong friends during my time at Monde Nissin, including this guy, Jordan. What can I say about him? He’s one of the friendliest people I know. I jokingly call him "Congressman" or "Mayor" because he seems to know everyone, regardless of their status. If he’s your friend, you can always count on him to have your back, through both good and bad times. I can’t remember how many times he took the Monde team to Tagaytay on a random Friday night just so we could enjoy coffee and some McNuggets, but there were quite a few such occasions. To be honest, I don’t know where he gets his energy, but he always seems to have plenty in the tank to cheer everyone up.
